A plane carrying the Utah State University men’s basketball team crashed in a field in Providence today.

At least two fatalities reported.

“I see students — some dead, some not,” said Mart Jacobs, a police officer on the scene.

The team was headed to the Super Nationals in Las Vegas.

“The plane is broken in half in a field and there is a fire in the front,” Jacobs said.

Those on scene are currently trying to get inside the plane.

More information will be available after a press conference tonight in the atrium of the Agricultural Science building on the university’s campus at 5:45 p.m.
