Two hostages are being held in the mountains of Cove, Utah by what are believed to be cattle rustlers according to the Cache County Government Relations Office. FBI special agent Megan Reeves is negotiating the release of the victims.

The hostages are believed to be Louise and Donnie Dickinson, a mother and son, who never returned from a hiking trip this morning.

Kevin Raymond, a hiker in the area, contacted emergency responders about the hostages and was shot at by the cattle rustlers. He was not injured.

“This has become a really bad situation,” Raymond said.

However, Reeves said the negotiation should be done soon.

“If I play my cards right, I hope to have the hostage situation wrapped in in 45 minutes,” said Reeves.

The FBI is making every effort to maintain the safety of the hostages and arrest the perpetrators.
