A forest service fire truck has been confirmed to be destroyed in a self-contained fire Friday morning. The fire truck was being transported on a tow truck from the Logan Canyon fires where it had been damaged. While en route back to Logan on the back of the tow truck, the fire truck burst into flames.

Barbara Stanwick was the first witness to report the fire when she saw it on Main Street in Logan.

“The fire was very large but the fire department contained it quickly,” Stanwick said. “They have it totally contained now though.”

Matt Scott of the Logan Fire department said the Smithfield Fire Department has contained the fire and eliminated any risk of spread.
