ImageSALT LAKE CITY – Police arrested a young man in conjunction with an attempted robbery of a gas station on Thursday.

Cliff Boundford, 22 years old, is accused of attempting to rob a 7-11 gas station located on the corner of 3900 South and 700 East.

Boundford allegedly entered the gas station and threatened the cashier with a carving knife. A customer, whose name has not been released, sprayed the robber with pepper spray. The man then ran from the store into his running vehicle and drove away.

Police were able to read most of the license plate number from security camera footage. They traced the vehicle back to Boundford and arrested him at a nearby apartment complex.

The county prosecutor’s office stated they will be filing charges early next week.
