WHITEFOOT, Idaho – State Hospital West received a Quality Leadership Award from the Idaho Board of Health & Medicine (IBHM) on April 4, 2013.

State Hospital West is a mental institution serving Idaho and Western Wyoming.

“We want to recognize quality mental health care in Idaho,” said Dr. Steven Michaels, Director of IBHM. “State Hospital West is truly at the cutting edge.”

The Quality Leadership Award is given to the hospital that ranks highest in three criteria: number of return patients, quality of care, and staff credentials. State Hospital West boasts a 93 percent successful treatment rate and 98 percent of staff have received training to adequately respond to hostile patients.

“We’re very proud of our staff for achieving such a high level of excellence,” said Dr. Sara McKinley, Director of State Hospital West.
